ChemCon Europe 2023 - Vienna

Partners of ChemCon Europe 2023:

Summary

ChemCon Europe 2023 took place in Vienna, Austria from 23 – 27 October 2023. Almost 250 experts from 26 countries, representing over 120 companies, authorities and associations attended the conference and contributed to an inspiring exchange of experiences and discussions about regulatory affairs around the globe.

The week had a great start where compliance driven companies learned about best practices, focus areas and industry perspectives on enforcement, followed by in-depth seminars on “EU CLP and global implementation of GHS” and “Global approach to notification of polymers and new chemicals”.

During the rest of the week, a great variety of aspects of international chemical control legislation around the globe was discussed during the conference sessions. Hands on topics related to European regulatory strategy and implementation, as well as American and Asian updates, were of high relevance to the audience. As always, practical advice and lessons learned by industry were well received, since they show how to act within the legal frameworks set.

Many countries from Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas were spotlighted in detail and there were sessions focussing on topics like global hazard communication, data management, authorisation and restriction, grouping approaches, microplastics, nanomaterials and drinking water requirements. Furthermore, PFAS restriction developments and experiences were shared.

On Sustainable Friday, many inspirational experiences were shared for a more sustainable and circular value chain, with topics like green chemistry, chemical recycling, Safe and Sustainable by Design and technological developments to enhance transparency and sustainability in the value chain.
